Many HP computers have a non-standard name for the administrator account. On many vintage HP computers the administrator account name is HP_ADMINISTRATOR
This becomes important when you try and use remote desktop to attach to a system, normally the username is administrator together with associated password give you remote access. For whatever reason HP changed the account name from administrator to hp_administrator. I had recollection of this but didn’t know the exact name. I searched in vain on the web looking for the default account name and only turned up articles on how to reset the administrator account password. I tried hpadministrator, hp-administrator, hpadmin etc never realizing they use the underline character to separate HP from administrator. When you are in a separate city to the computer it isn’t that easy to determine the account name :-)
Hope this quick post helps someone gain remote access to their HP computer.
